The Historical Idaho Patents Database documents the rich history of patenting in Idaho and aids researchers in finding early Idaho patent information. United States patents listing either one or more inventors and/or assignees from Idaho are included. Database coverage begins in 1866, when Robert Bailey of Idaho City invented a steam generator, thus becoming the first recipient of a patent issued in Idaho. The database is being updated continually as new patents are found.
